Yami Gautam was born in the year 1988 on 28th of November in the city of Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, India and brought up in Chandigarh. Yami Gautam was born in a Himachali family. Yami Gautam is an Indian film actress who appeared in many Hindi (Bollywood) and Telugu (Tollywood) films. In the past, she also appeared in some of the Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Punjabi films. Apart from acting, Yami is also a prominent celebrity endorser for brands and products.

Earlier Yami Gautam was used to act in TV serials and commercials which drawn the attention of producers and directors of film industry.

Then, she appeared in South-Indian films. In the year 2012, Gautam made her Bollywood debut with the film 'Vicky Donor' which gained her positive reviews for her performance. Later the films 'Action Jackson' in 2014, 'Badlapur' in 2015, 'Sanam Re' in 2016, and 'Junooniyat' in 2016 made her career more successful as an actress.

Yami's father 'Mukesh Gautam' is a Punjabi film director and mother 'Anjali Gautam' is a house-wife. Yami has a sister, 'Surilie Gautam' who made her big screen debut with Punjabi film 'Power Cut'.

She did her regular schooling and later joined college for pursuing a graduate degree in law honors. She had aspired to join Indian Administrative Services (IAS) as a young girl, but at the age of 20, Yami decided to start her acting career. As she was pursuing Studies in Law Honors (first-year PU Student of the Law), but she left full-time studies for acting. Recently, she is doing her part-time Graduation from Mumbai.

Yami is fond of reading, interior decoration and listening to music. Gautam was twenty when she moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in movies. She made her television debut with Chand Ke Paar Chalo, which was followed by Raajkumar Aaryyan. Following this, she played her most notable role in Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, which aired on Colors. Furthermore, she participated in the reality shows Meethi Choori No 1 and Kitchen Champion Season 1.
